YO has an Owl box at the yard about 24ft up a disused telegraph pole. There's a little owl that sits squeeching at it from the top of the barn but never goes in, now we know why....
Mandarin ducks have nested in there and had 7 licke babies
However, today they took the leap of faith......or death
YO looked up to see them leaping al a kamikazee style down into the school below. Sadly one didn't survive the fall. One landed on the fence, wobbled side to side then fell into the school They all toddled off so hopefully mum will come back tonight for them.
Her description was brilliant, I just wished she filmed it. Last year a squirrel nested in there so god knows what we'll get next year
