Bloody fireworks! After posting on here how well my dogs were coping with the fireworks after I made them a cave to hide in, my poor little man collapsed during his walk this morning. I carried his limp little body home and rushed him to the vets where they put him straight on oxygen. An xray showed the cavity round his heart is full of fluid and the vets best guess, as it's not getting worse and improved after a time on oxygen, is that the stress of the fireworks made his heart to beat so fast it caused a weakness in an artery which then burst while he was running round this morning. It's possible he won't need anymore treatment as the artery will have clotted and sealed itself but sod the cave idea, he's going on Valium! Fingers crossed I can pick him up later.

Phew! Jake is so much better he was able to come home earlier. He is tucked up under a duvet, doped to the eyeballs with Diazepam (which, you're right welshiesrock, he might have to share!) but it good spirits. We're back to the vets tomorrow and he has old man heart tablets but he seems fine.

No news on Merlin at all for 3 weeks and that was a dubious sighting so who knows what's happened to him. There's articles going in the Western Daily Press and the Blackmore Vale paper and ads in the Central Somerset and Western Gazettes this week but after that I'm stumped for things to do.
