My cat had 8 teeth out yesterday, now got no upper teeth left apart from incisors and only 3 on bottom, they will need to come out in next 6 months

Unfortunately he’s got an immune condition that causes his gums to be super sore and only way to cure it long term is removing teeth

It’s even harder as a vet nurse when your animals need treatment but he’s ok ish, he’s on strong pain meds and is eating wet food ok

Evening update

After a half dose metacam injection at lunchtime (we have to be careful because of slightly high kidney levels) he has perked up hugely. His face has lost its tight worried look, he’s not dribbling and is much more like mog including playing with his ping pong balls

He’s back to see dental specialist tomorrow

Post op check tonight with dental specialist, he’s pleased with how he’s doing. Slight wound breakdown where canine teeth removed but in an awkward area unfortunately

Because his kidney levels were ok on bloods this time we are going to continue with low ish dose of metacam for 3-4 days as yesterdays injection made such a positive difference and Gabapentin not quite cutting it

We’ve also started him on Solensia which is cat version of Librela as for a time I’ve suspected he may have spinal arthritis so really hoping that helps him

He’s back home, had his tea plus metacam and is now asleep

Sounding very positive now. It's often a little harder on them if the canines come out. I've always tried to leave them if possible , but sometimes you just can't.
Teeth /gum issues are the curse of the Gremkitties ( Siamese and Orientals ).
Metacam is also my go to after teeth extractions
