that is awful im not sure i would know what to do in a situation like that it must have been so awful to see a horse like that never mind if it was your own! RIP poor horse

If the electricity workers were near enough for the friend to speak to, what on earth were they doing standing by and doing nothing. They should have been aware of the likelyhood of their being an exposed live cable. Would they have been standing about while a child on a bike was in the same state?

Pretty callous not turning the electric off.I hope there are repercussions the girl who tried to take bridle off could have been electrocuted.MY heart goes out to her how do you get over something like that.

Bloody idiots!!!!! And yes I'm sure they would've turned it off if it had been a person! Gurr!!!!

I can't imagine how they must have felt trying to work out what was wrong. RIP Horsey

That's brought tears to my eyes, I cannot imagine what the poor lady must be going through.
losing a horse is bad enough, but that was such a horrible way for her to lose him. My thoughts to all involved x

This is not an unusual occurance unfortunately. There was a similar tragedy a few years ago that was very well documented at the time and something which haunted me for months as I do a lot of hacking.
This is just awful and my heart goes out the owner and her brave friend, and a super looking horse to boot.

I suppose his shoes conducted the electricity. How absolutely awful. I hope she sues the arse off the electicity company, not that it would bring Merlin back, but. And I cannot believe the workers wouldn't turn it off, that's just callous.

RIP Merlin.

What an awful story!

I too am amzed that the electricity workers refused to 'inconvenience' people when faced with such a horrific scenario. So easily could have been three deaths there, (maybe more if others were trying to help, who knows how much of the ground was live?)but so courageous that lady was to go back and remove Merlin's bridle after being badly shocked already.

My thoughts to all involved, and poor Merlin, RIP
