My jack Russell bitch (ex rescue aged around 10) isn't well. She was fine yesterday but wouldn't touch any food this morning and was sick (yellow froth and grass) about four times. She's been lethargic all day and doesn't seem to know what to do with herself, moving from bed to bed and then back again. I took her to the emergency vet at lunch time who did a blood test, felt her all over, took her temperature, all of which were normal. The vet gave her two injections and said she should perk up in a few hours. She's still exactly the same although she has managed to drink some water but still wont touch any food. She's had a wee and a poo, although the stool did contain some mucus. Has anyone any ideas? Obviously we'll be going back to the vet tomorrow if she is no better in the morning.

Could she just have eaten something that hasn't agreed with her or have but of a tummy bug?
Fingers x'd it's nothing but you've done all the right things so try and stay calm til you get results etc. Terriers can be drama queens!
Let us know. Will be thinking of you x

Could be pancreatitis, good that they've taken bloods xx

This. Have her poos looked any different? With pancreatitis often you see yellowish poos because of the fat. I hope she feels better soon, do try and keep her hydrated in the meantime and encourage her to drink if you can.

Possibly acute hepatitis,a blood test would show if the liver enzymes were high.My terrier had similar symptoms .Still waiting on the results.?Gastroenteritis is another illness although loose stools would usually goes with this.An x ray would show if there was any obstruction but its a puzzle.Whatever it is dont delay in taking her back to the vet if no improvement .Hope it resolves itself. Not eating is the bodys way of healing and good she is drinking a little.Lots of TLC meantime.

When do you get bloods back and what were they checking for? She may have just eaten something that didn't agree. Is she up to date on wormer including for lungworm? Are you in a known Lyme disease area? Hopefully just a bug, mine all threw up everything right after I wormed them, same wormer as usual, sick as a dog is so true, poor babies. Hope your girl is better really soon, they're such a worry.

Sorry not to have updated earlier. She's fine now. She was feeling very sorry for herself on Sunday but had perked up by Monday morning and is totally normal now. It must have been something she'd eaten which didn't agree with her. Shame about the £210.00 vet fee, but she's worth it!
