My lab is normally a really happy playful dog. I took him for a walk yesterday morning before work and he was fine ate his breaky when he got back etc. I popped home at lunch to let him out and he again was fine had a couple treats and I went back to work. When I got back from work in the evening I took him for a quick walk and he just didn't seem himself really unsettledd etc. I gave him his dinner and he wouldn't eat it.
He then started charging to the back door with very bad diorrrhea (sp) this went on all night every hour or so. He has nhad no futher food since yesterday lunch just water. He has been drinking a lot this morning but a few minutess after he has drunk he vomits it back up again. So I have taken his water away too.
He is really not himself and keeps looking round at his tummy which is making some very weird noises!!
One of the dogs at the yard is just getting over a very bad attack of gastroenteritus could this be what Benji has?
I have made an appointment at the vets for this afternoon so good luck vibes would be great he does seem really unwell

Poor Benji, my first guess would be gastroenteritus too, but you are definitely doing the right thing by getting him seen by your vet. Good luck, fingers crossed all is ok. Please update us later

Does he normally eat things he shouldnt...i.e foreign objects...or change of diet

, as u suggest it could also be a tummy bug....I hope everything goes well at the vets.
Try giving water little and often until u get to the vets...larger amounts will increase the vomitting.

Not normally and to be honest he hasn't really been anywhere to eat anything strange. He has been on the same diet for over a year now and normally looks good on it. I did change his mixer though but i tend to buy a different one each time anyway.
I did offer him a little water but one or two sips and he was sick again

Turns out Ben does have gastroenteritus and if I hadn't gone to the vets so soon he would now be hospitalised and on a drip.

He has lost about 4 kg in weight - not too much but he is quite a fine athletic lab anyway so is looking rather slim.

He was starved since Thursday lunchtime and had an anti sickness jab at vets and has some tablets to take today and tomorrow. He was also given some electrolites to go in his water which he is point blank refusing to drink.

Vet gave me some special food to help settle his stomach which he has to be given small amounts 5 times per day. He is also taking small amounts of normal water now too.

Yesterday he looked awful and just slept and wouldn't move all day and I went off to work last night half expecting my OH to call me in the night and say he had got worse. I was delighted this morning when I got home from work to find my boy waiting at the door with a cuddley toy and waggy tail! He seems a lot better though not fully back to his bouncy self.

He can't be walked out till end of next week as he will still be contagous but luckily our garden isn't too small and when he feels up to it he can have a little run around outside.

Oh thats great news - glad he is getting back to his bouncy self, he must have felt rotten the poor lad. Lucky you took him to the vets when you did
