Caleb, one of our sheepdogs, hasn’t eaten for 2 days (and he loves his food so very unusual). He’s a very lean, muscular dog but has dropped an alarming amount of weight in two days. Very worried about him ?. The vet can feel a lump so he is currently in the vet on a drip and they are going to scan him and probably open him up. Please keep everything crossed it’s nothing terminal. He’s such a sweet dog.

He came to us as a young “part trained” dog but he was terrified of everything and some of his behaviour made us think he’d probably had harsh treatment and training before coming to us ?. He also had a dreadful grip and would go in and damage sheep if he bit them. My hubby was really concerned he might be no good as a sheepdog, despite having plenty of natural talent. He worked hard to gain his trust and eventually they became a good partnership and he’s now one of our main working dogs. He’s 8 years old now.

Sorry for the delay! The vet rang this afternoon to say it was a piece of rubber, like a bung or part of a ball and it had made its way to his small intestine and then got stuck. They removed it and, while he’s not out of the woods yet, he is home and will hopefully make a full recovery.
Thanks for all the good wishes.

Thank goodness! Your story reminded me so much of my 6 yr old Rottweiler's last day - her diagnosis was a splenic tumour which had spread to her bowel and was inoperable. I am so pleased that your story was much better- sending vibes for his complete recovery!

I’m over the moon to hear that! Hopefully he’ll be back 100% very soon. Silly boy, worrying you like that!

A friend’s lab was a sock demon and had so many ops to remove them that the vet told her he had little intestine left. (I couldn’t understand why they didn’t just keep the floor clear, but I know my lot will steal anything and I’ve no idea how they get stuff, just removed a filthy plastic bag from them, certainly wasn’t in the garden last I looked)
