Took Summer to the yard Tuesday evening, she did zoomies then went into a grassy area on our walk around the field and came back out of the area limping. No yelp or anything.

We gave her half a paracetamol on arriving home and let her settle for the night.

Wednesday lunch time she's lifting her paw to walk, not totally non weight bearing but 80% of the time carrying it and when putting weight on it and is keeping it out to the side when she does.

So we rang for a vets appointment but the earliest they could fit us in was today which was an emergency appointment. We've had a good look and palpated the leg and foot, I've managed to get the nail scissors out and clipped around the pads but can't see anything but she's sensitive around the toes.

Vet says she thinks it's a thorn in between her pads although her toe is swollen but can't find anything but going to give her Synulox antibiotic tablets in case of infection and some metacam.

Similiar thing happened in January and we never found out what that was either.

She has a lump under her arm pit on that side but the vet is certain it's a harmless fatty lump. She had one biopsied years ago and that was of no significance either.

She's lost 2.2kg recently so the vet is pleased with her weight.

Do £205 later and we still don't know what's wrong. 🙄

Is it practical to put boots on dogs? Like the fire and rescue do for their dogs? Is this actually a thing?

Heck had to have some for a while. His paws got irritated. I put him on a probiotic and the paws stopped being an issue. They would be red and sore between the pads.
She seems to pick up thorns these days.
She'll be trotting along fine one minute then on three legs the next. Quite often we'll pull one out and she's fine again.

The vet felt her toe was swollen too. I suppose we can buy some boots and see how she gets on. She had her metacam around 6.30pm last night in her tea and by 9pm was walking whilst weightbearing about 80% whereas before the metacam she was 80% non weightbearing.

Hoping the antibiotics will kick in by tomorrow too. Praying it wasn't blackthorn.

What type did you buy for Heck please? I see yiu can get the suspender type.

😆 no, he had much more utility style boots.

I have no idea what brand, but more like these.

He initially refused to walk, then walked like a ballerina, very light on his feet and hardly touching the floor. Within a couple of wears he was flying about like normal though.
