My little sister's JRT Poppy has always been a bit dense when it comes to training - it took YEARS to get her completely house-trained and even then she'd have the odd "accident" from time to time - but over the last week she has poo'd in the house THREE TIMES.

She doesn't even let us know that she wants to go out first, she just does it on the carpet - even though every single time, we have been at home with her, sitting in the next room where she knows full well if she comes in and whines at us, the first thing we will do is let her out. Why is she doing this? They are perfectly normal poos, she doesn't have an upset stomach or anything, so I don't see why she can't wait the few seconds it would take to ask us to let her out!

Flipping dog, never get a terrier!

J.r.t's are notoriously hard to toilet train and can revert after being clean for what may seem to the owner like they are fully trained and no more issues will occur....maybe the bad weather has a part to play in it, some of the best toilet trained dogs will do anything to avoid the cold and wet you really need to keep her in the same room as you at all times so u can correct her by way of picking her up and removing her outside when she begins to squat, and if it happens when u are out then crate her for a period till still begins to hold again.

Thanks - looks like she will be kept in the living room for a while then! She was crate trained as a puppy, but she would just mess in her crate (better than on the carpet, but still a pain...) - for years after she'd learned not to go on the carpet, she'd still go in her crate. This seemed so weird to me, because Leah is a very clean dog who would never dream of messing in her bed (she was crate trained too and never once made a mess in there).

Oddly, she never does it when we're out. The dogs are rarely left home alone for more than a few hours at a time anyway, and besides a few puddles on the doormat every now and then she's usually fine. We'll start shutting her in the living room with us so we can whisk her outside when she needs to go, and see if that sorts her out! Thanks!
