What a pity - I enjoyed my only ever riding holiday there some years ago and have ever since wished I could have trained there. The instruction was such an eye opener I was left wondering how on earth I'd ridden for 30 years before going there!!

Truly sorry to hear this, we will soon have no riding schools left if the best cannot survive!

Not surprising really as it is in the middle of nowhere and would only survive on holidays, and I would think it could be horrible there most of the year when it rains. Sad though.

It is a real shame, my first instructor (almost 40 years ago)had trained at Porlock and so although I had never been there myself, I have always felt a connection and known that it was a very highly regarded estabishment.
Is seems like there will have to be another way to do this and we all must be open to change because the world, it is a changing! There was an article recently about a club starting out at a riding centre, perhaps that is it or perhaps places should consider selling part shares in horses.... who knows but there will be a way! It is just finding it......
