Portable site lights for arena lighting?

I used them for clipping one evening when I fused the stable lights - and they were a nightmare then! Unless you have them fixed at a height, they are very shadowy and don't cast a particularly large deal of light - I can imagine with a spooky horse it would be difficult with them.

Bum. Any other easy way to light the arena enough to lunge? I can't use car headlight before anyone suggests as my arena is up a slope

How much do proper floodlights cost? Not sure we'd get planning tbh hence thinking of other ideas

yes, I use exactly that one.. I have two, which I run off extension cables from the barn, I have one in each corner of long side. It is a bit shadowy, but is fine for lunging and schooling. It helps to lift them up a bit so they shine down ( I use water butts :-) ).. last year I didnt and did have trouble getting spooky horse into the corners as I think he didnt like them shining in his eyes. Much better now. Takes 5mins to put out. Worry in the rain as not sure if they are supposed to get wet but I rode loads in rain last year and they didnt blow up!

I just bought a generator (£80) and 2 50w LED floodlights - does the job amazingly :)

Several years ago I bought two of these double site lights & at that time they had the 500w bulbs in them. I had them running off extension leads & positioned on 2 corners at each end of the long side. It gave enough light to school but not enough to jump. There was a lot of shadows because you can only extend them to about 6' off the floor but it was better than nothing. :)

Think I'll go for it then considering how cheap they are. I wonder if there would be any way to mount them up on the arena fence so it raises them up a bit higher. Some sort of clamp or something maybe?

we have these in the school at the moment whilst the new school is being finished we have them in three corners of a 20x40 and absolutley no problem with them - horse was fine once i managed to get her near them!

Just an idea, we are mounting scaffolding poles on our fence using a pivot clamp with 2x 400watt lights on each pole. We have had to run cables etc but these will be our permanent lights....although classed as temporary as can be folded down/removed from arena fence.
