Portman Novice

My plan at the mo is to SJ and miss March, so has anyone been to Portman last year (new venue) and been round the novice or remember what it was like?

From what i can remember (although not personally competed there) Portman Novice looked a nice straightfoward early course. I am pretty sure I had earmarked that event to go to after seeing photographs etc.

Could have helped you with the old Portman Novice, but haven't been to the new one!
If it's anything like the old one, it should be pretty straight forwards tho

Didn't go but heard from several people that it was very straightforward and certainly on the easy side for a Novice. They could of course upgrade a bit more again this year.

Er, Portman's been around for donkey's years hasn't it?

If it's where I'm thinking of it's a straightforward course, quite hunter-trially which I don't think is a bad thing, and doesn't have a water. Used to have an intermediate but they stopped running that so may have integrated some of those fences but it was a dead-easy intermediate so I wouldn't worry about that at all.

They had a nice course last year (Both PN and Novice), was an easier novice and straight forward (and it was a lovely place, too!I was very impressed)

Thank you all, may have to be Portman then as first event, share lorry so mid week ones easier?

There were a few angled combinations, a quarry, corner and the 2nd fence was an up to height Hayrack which a few people got elimanted at. But I was also told it was a lovely event
