So we are playing with the idea of buying somewhere over there. Obviously the country is in a bad way but we have alot of history with it and I speak a tiny bit of Portuguese. At first husband will be mostly in UK and visiting there, I'll be living there (Central I would think). Haven't the foggiest about living oversees in another EU country. Anyone have any pointers? (this is a way off, just prelim research atm).

Sorry no pointers, Chico Mio may be of some use, she is in Spain but otherwise I don't think there are any Portugese members here.

You could go on an ex-pat forum, they are always very helpful with just about everything you need to know.

We thought about Portugal, but after a couple of visits although we liked the people I found it too arid and then there was the language thing too with a 10 year old child to consider. So, we went somewhere where they speak English - and I am still learning a whole new vocabulary six and a half years on!

thanks Enfys-the parts we are looking at aren't so arid but we do need to be reasonably close to airports, preferably Lisbon so we can fly direct to Edinburgh/Glasgow.
