The lining of my 5+ year old synthetic Aigle boots is getting tatty enough that my feet get tangled nearly every time I try to get them off & now I have my lovely shared boy I was thinking it was about time I invested in something new...

Problem is there aren't heaps of equestrian shops near me so I'll prob have to order on-line... So, any recommendations much appreciated!

As a fully-paid up bunny-hugger I don't wear leather (and anyway I'm not /that/ rich!) so I'm looking for some nicer synthetic ones. They need to be long, (what I'm used to and saves having to get chaps as well), would love them to be a bit breathable, (current ones are bottom of range and sort of like wellies), smart enough for if I get brave enough to try a little competition or two, oh, and ideally able to cope with walking across the odd muddy field/being used for mucking out occasionally! Never had hard toe caps but guess that might be handy too?

Do you think something like these

or these

would be good?

I'm a size 4 in ordinary shoes but have quite little feet for the rest of me (5'5''ish, 9stone something) so thought maybe I should get wide calf ones like my old pair? Or will zips mean that doesn't matter as much?
