Busy working on combating pre-show nerves at the moment.

I need some Mantra's, so far I have:
-I have prepared well for this competition.
-My horse is the most well schooled he has ever been.

Any other ideas, hints or tips..?

Also, is Dutch courage socially acceptable at dressage comps? :D

I will go & have fun. If anything happens it's not the end of the world it's just giving me direction on what to practise in the future

'we can do it' and 'kick on' are ones I use, basic but pretty much covers everything!!!
oh, and 'breath' from someone who doesn't, helps alot if you do!!

no mantras as such to offer but have one or two little tips.......

one thing i do and it sounds really silly but I visualise top riders and it does help if you pretend to be mark todd, mary king....whoever you fancy!

also for dressage when im warming up I'll do my free walk on a long rein in the order of the test as a quick reminder as to where im going!

and probably the ost important thing is to think just before you go down the centre line - dont rush and breathe! use it as an opportunity to show your horse off. And dont forget, its only walk trot and canter - all the things you do at home all the time!

good luck!!!

Go and have fun, it's supposed to be fun after all- unless you are a professional!.

Also one of my trainers who has always given me wise advice with one of my horses (she rides for GB so knows her stuff!) has said to me just concentrate on the things you know you can do well and pick up the extra marks on offer there and if there is something the horse is not so good at don't worry, just have a go, do it and you may lose a few marks on that particular movement but it's not the end of the world!

I find it easier not to practice the test much at home, just practice each movement instead, and when i'm in the ring I pretend I'm schooling at home!-

Good luck!

I'm here for a good day with my horse and I will enjoy my self, a rosette is a bonus as long as he tries then I will be happy. For jumping its just the aim is to get over all the fences if that goes well then the aim is to canter the course and if that is going well then a nice rhythm and then if that works then a double clear would be great, we are not at the point to go for a fast time so we just aim to get round :)

Thanks guys, keep them coming! Just getting tense as I'm away for work on Thursday so will be sat in a hotel room channelling all the good thoughts, trotting out the tests and Little Horse will be at home being schooled by YO!

I tried Sloe Gin at my last comp but it didn't make me any more relaxed - just felt even more sick :p

However, I've been recommended Brandy for soothing the stomach :D:D

No tips really though I am finding I'm scared to death in the warm-up but fine once I get in the arena and actually quite enjoy it :)
