I've posted lots over 6 months about the different issues I've been facing with my horse and received lots of great advice about different medical related issues. It started out with him starting to refuse jumping and not really wanting to move at all which was diagnosed as grade 4 ulcers and then after a bone scan and x-rays he was diagnosed with arthritis in both hocks. These were medicated with steroids and he's been slowly coming back into work since January. After a couple of wobbles and lots of money spent still not convinced he was quite right, I tried to put it to one side and just get on with it and i'm pleased that I did!

We had our first lesson with a new instructor last night and she rode him first and he was such a good boy. Really stepping under and through with his hind legs, starting working into a contact even just for a couple of strides and she even got him to strike off on the right canter lead every time (something nobody else inc me has managed to do in 2 years due to his issues). I then hopped on and he moved totally different, he felt much more bendy and elastic and despite me still not being able to get him to strike off right, after a couple of adjustments he finally did it for me as well. Just goes to show what a change in attitude and instructor can achieve! Bit of a non post really but I am starting to feel really positive for the first time in 6 months that we might actually be able to get out and about this summer! :)
