Driving me nuts! Can't do anything!
I have a Welsh D gelding and Tb X mare and they have been together/in same field for 3/4 months and the fact they can't be more than a foot away from each other is beyond the joke!
My mare is just a light hack for my mum and I compete G, but as soon as he leaves the field even to just go up to the stables (5 metres away) she just goes mental, to the point she tries to jump the fence! This then makes G worry and he won't concentrate or stop pacing.
It's not just when they are apart in the field she won't let any other horse near him and kicks off if he approaches another horse.
Riding is fine at the moment as she can see him when he's in the school and can stand right next to the arena fence and when I go hacking it doesn't bother him as he can't hear her kicking off.
But it's the small things like bringing him in on a night (she cant be stabled, got arthritis and panics when in a stable due to bad background), coming for a groom and tack up etc.
Iv literally tried everything! She's okay If she comes with him but I can't do it when I'm on my own as she's impossible to lead if G is already out of the field so it's just not practical.
I'm at my whits end and don't know what to do! What can I do to help her integrate into the herd and stop reacting like this?!
Any advice or exspirience greatly received!!
