I can't believe i'm even thinking about it!

OH has just been up to local RSPCA centre (not to browse intentionally - was on business) and got chatting to an employee.

They have a liver and white spangle bitch coming in later this week - owner is moving to London with work and is unable to care for her anymore. She has excellent working lines and it part trained for working.

Someone make me see sense!:eek::eek:

There is one problem - she's called Maisey and i already have a Maisey!:D

Could be interesting on a shoot day :D

S_A,

two things to consider. Firstly if she's over two years, and has a mind of her own, then you may well find her hard work, and secondly if she really is well bred, and amenable, then would they allow you to have her, but on trial?

I was once given a two year old dog, called Ben. I already had a Ben, so he had his name changed to "OI"!! I did some work with him, and then sold him on after a few months, to a bloke who won a novice stake with him, at his first attempt, and in reasonable company too!!

Sometimes it works, but all so often, it doesn't.

Alec.

Alec - Thanks :D Yes, they would allow me to go up and 'test her brain' so to speak! I have rescued before, although not formally through a rescue centre, just through word of mouth through the shooting community. I have trained dogs for a while now and can usually recognise pretty quickly whether there is potential or not. The lady at the centre couldn't quite remember but she *thinks* she's 14 months - which will be spot on!

Spud - Obviously i can't tell myself, as i haven't seen her but i'm thinking Mable?!

I really shouldn't even be considering taking on another one LOL that will be ...

Kensa, Jake, Ellie, Maisey, Tean and possible newbie! Not to mention OH's dogs ... Vinnie, Bud, Jay & Zip! Also Dads - Lucy, Fern, Willow, Daisey & Tilly

:D:D:D:D

Mable, I like that name. Or I always wanted a bitch called Meg when I was little - don't know why:D

We have several Megs on the shoot.

Do you remember when i was deciding on a name for Maisey? I liked Trixie ...

Good job i didn't call her that - The breeder kept a bitch and called her Trixie!! He picks up with us too! :)

You could just go with Oi as Alec suggests, I think that would suit a spangle quite well:D

I have already decided, my next dog will be called Seamus, whenever he arrives!

LOL i know of a JRT called Oi! Very funny :D

Seamus is lovely - my friend had a grey pony (connie x) called Seamus and he was an absolute superstar!

S_A,

I've given this some further thought. "Style", and I'm sure that you know what I mean, in a working dog, always leads me to think that the dog is trainable. Is it to do with a dog which is focused, or is it simply because I find "stylish" workers so appealing? Don't know, is the answer to that one! :)

Go and have a look at her, and if you like her, then take her home with you. Simple!! :D

Alec.

ps. subsequent pics wouldn't do any harm!! ;) a.

I have asked them to call me as soon as she's in :)

I know what you mean re style. I have both stylish (as in what i would call 'Field Trial' potential/prospect) and i have the irratic, no sense no feeling, no method to it's madness type - i must say both have their uses lol

Although - if i could choose i'd prefer stylish! Easy life and all that! :D

Bizarre, Seamus at my yard is a grey Connie-pure white and always filthy!

I think you should get her: then you have a balance of colours and no-one can accuse you of spangle racism!

Mavis or Mable - you can never have too many spangles in your life!
We want another one this year - we'll probably call it Katie - as its a Royal wedding year:D
Hope she is all that you wanted!

Even if its a boy?;):D:D:D

Hehe - Yes - 'Kate - a funny name for a boy!' 'It's short for Bob!' to quote Blackadder!:D:D

We are hoping that Purdey's mum and dad get together again - well stay together as they are officially married (ceremony was performed by the breeder's daughter!!). We have ordered a little girl for when they do get 'together'. If they're are no girls we'll have to wait til next time:p
