Horse been on box rest for 6 weeks now due to fractured cannon bone in hind leg. Had his shoes taken off last week cause of him kicking in the stable and causing further injury to the fracture.
Today his front leg is really swollen and hot, no visible cut or knock, could this be an abscess and is it because I have taken his shoes off??? Can't see anywhere that the possible abscess has broken out on his foot or heel.
Really at my wits end now! Vet coming out later today
Obv if it's an abscess I will be poulticing and giving antibiotics. Should he be stood on a really thick bed to help make him more comfortable?
Gonna cost me an arm and leg in animalintex and vetwrap now too
