Heya guys,

My mare has had a sore on her mouth for about a week and a half now... haven't seen anything like it before but we think it's Bot larvae and are going to treat as such. ie wait till cold snap sets in and the larvae have migrated to her stomach and then treat with appropriate wormer.

Just wanting to check if anyone has had this before and can confirm thats what it looks like?!

Vet is back and forth at the moment visiting another horse so I will probably try and grab him to check too.

PS Sorry about the pic quality was quite hard to get lol

I have only seen bot larvae on the soft palate and they leave a ulcer - a raised lump with a hole where they have been feeding. Is it the right time for bots? The ones I saw were later in the year. Its hard to tell from the picture but I would more expect bots to be further inside the mouth i.e. on the tonge, cheeks or roof of mouth.
Sorry not to be much more help.
