Possible future boyfriend .........

Know absolutely nothing about breeding really, but he looks lovely to me!

Also know absolutely nothing about conformation, but is it just me or does something not look quite right about his pasterns?

That's what I was thinking madhector, but then I thought I might be comparing them to the front pasterns as they are quite long, and he has a funny rump? Not sure though, has a lovely pop in him, just don't like the look of him.

I've circled the parts I don't like on the stallion in the FIRST link you posted:

We where actually going to go for a crosstown dancer filly until we seen our filly that we have now, Glad we went for her , If and when we put her into foal , Think I would like to go for an irish draught ... Dont really want to go for warmbloods

In an ideal world I would keep away from Warmbloods. There are other Irish Draughts about and plenty of very nice sport horses. Is your Filly more along the TB/Sport horse line of draught line?

Not keen tbh. Looks like two horses put together.

Someone on here is using a fabulous ID - but can't remember his name which is a bugger.

I think this horse has been judged a bit harsh, where is confirmation is concerned you are judging on a photo. If he passed his grading "Champion Stallion at the recent Grading held in England in February 2006" then I can assure you he would have had to have had good marks for confirmation/movement etc. Though I have seen graded stallions that I have not liked, I have to accept that better people then me have judge them.

Absolutely - but obviously we don't all like the same things, but as you say it is a photo, and he may be better in the flesh.

However, to me he looks to have the body of one horse and the neck of another. I think that he is also too short coupled. However if you have a longer backed mare, then that would hopefully redress the balance.

I agree with Magic on this one i dont think you can really tell that much from a picture.
The other thing is he is only 4 this year and wont be anything like fully mature being Irish Draught.
Cant be too bad for his breed type to be Champion at grading.
The judges must have seen some potential in him.
I am not personally an ID fan but think he should be viewed in the flesh as from what the ad says the pic is probably not recent either.

If she is more on the TB line then I can see why you want to go down the more ID route. However don't rule out a nice sports horse stallion.

Good luck in trying to find a boyfriend, it is a total mine field

Ok Im going to be picky!!!

Firstly, they ahve not even spelt Irish Draught right!!!!! It's Draught not Draft!!!!! I know this seems like a really minor thing but it really annoys me and would make me a bit wary of him to be honest!!! I would think most serious breeders would at least get that part right!!!

And secondly he is not registered, ie. no R before his name, this means he has not passed an official inspection by the IDHS. The question is was he presented in the first place of did he fail.......

So they are my thoughts, yes I AM a little obcessive with the breed, but as it is now extremely endangered I think thats ok

If you look on the Irish Draught horse society website he is down on there list of stallions standing at stud for this season.
So i guess that he must be fully registered and graded.
Whether that is as an Irish Draught or Sport horse it doesnt say.
Edited to say definately on the Irish Draught list not the sport horse one.

Would u not just go to Crosstown Dancer??we had a fabulous filly by him about 8 years ago out of a TB mare turned out to be a stunning horse won in hand and under saddle at Dublin Horse show and then went on to become a Grade A showjumper.
Tho saying that heard recently he had passed away not sure if thats true or not?
