Sorry I know this isn't relevant to most of the people on here but for those who are in Cheshire, I witnessed and reported to the police some very suspicious activity in the Kelsall/ Ashton Heyes area tonight. Looked for all the world like a man was stealing a pony, and the police said there had been a spate of incidents in the area recently. They came out very quickly, with blues and twos, so they obviously took it very seriously.
The pony was grey, a highland type, looked young (2-3ish?) and the man had a rotweiller with him. He may of course have been the genuine owner/carer and I may have got my knickers in a twist over nothing
but their behaviour was weird - the pony didn't want to be handled, wasn't used to the dog, and the man kept on changing the direction he was leading them- all in the pitch black late at night. Unfortunately I lost sight of them, so I don't know if the police found them or not.
Whether it was suspicious activity or not, its always good to be aware of your yard safety, and if you see suspicious activity it is worth reporting it.
Hopefully all horses will be in their correct stables and fields in the morning, and I'm just being overly cautious!
