Have just received this email from Solihull Riding Club:

On the 29th May 2008 a rural premises in Hockely Heath was visted by 2 men who made enquiries about setting up a tent in a field and horses. They had a black Peugeot VRM, reg plate N253 XAJ (NB: these are believed to be false plates - these plates belong to a cream ford minibus, which is not involved in stealing horses - read more about this number plate). There are other reports of this number plate on a White mini bus in suspicious circumstances and an internet posting about this VRM on a red Land Cruiser in relation to possible theft of horses.

If you see a vehicle with this number plate please dial 999.
If you call the Police about an incident please ring 01926 415000 and ask for the Communications Centre. Please tell them that you are ringing in response to a message. Please quote the incident number, if one is given.

Thanks everyone, lets keep 'em peeled and keep our precious horses safe.

Have passed it on.

"Not wanting to tar and feather but.......Appleby is coming up is it not?
Another forum has info about 3 men asking about coloured horses. They are said to enquired about a coloured but when told it was a gelding became uninterested."
