When went down to see my horse this morning that i got back yesterday his hock has swollen to about 4 times the size it was on sunday and is about the size of an egg on the inside of his hock. My vet is coming out like now to see him but i am thinking it is a joint infection what are the treatments and that like?

I belive if its in the joint, the horse will be crippled lame. In which case the joint will need flushing etc..

I nearly faced this two weeks ago with my 2 year old but luckily it wasnt on her joint, although she did have a large amount of swelling around the wound and all around her fetlock this has now gone down, (i was told by the vet that she probably banged her tissues and blood vessels causing all the swelling) and now after a course of danolin and norodine with terramycin spray she is pretty much healed.

Fingers crossed for you!

just had fet out it is an infection he isn't lame and it is still weeping he is now on antibitoics and if no better by tuesday he is getting sent off for x-rays
