I am somewhat in a conundrum regarding my mares leg, any views greatly appreciated :D Ok so mare must have been prattng about in the field on Tues as she came in with a small cut on the front of her leg and after further investigation I noticed, (i think its the check ligament, although I could be very wrong as I've never had problems with ligaments/tendons before) was slightly risen/puffy and the leg was warm but not hot. Hosed it and then checked it later that day and it was nice and cold, horse very much sound. So I gave her Tues off and on Wed the same area was still slightly risen/puffy and still not hot. Horse still sound so I rode her to see if it made it any worse, which it didn't. Today again still slightly risen/puffy and not hot. Troted her up on concrete, then lunged her in trot on a hard/stoney surface and then lunged her round in the arena (surface is quite deep) and again completely sound!! Tbh i's really not noticeable unless your actually looking for something. Because its around the ligament/tendon area I am debating getting the vet out if it doesn't go back to normal by the weekend but then again they might think I'm nuts for asking for a sound horse to be looked at lol I am slightly worried due to the location!! Anyway heres a picture to show were it is ...

Any help very much appreciated :)

Sounds to me as though she bashed it in the field and it's more likely to be bruising or slightly over extended than anything else. I'd just do gentle walking work for the next week, let it settle and if it still isn't back to 100% normal then I would get a vet to check it out.
