I dont know if you've seen my previous posts but here's a summary:

Old mare pts last june (broke my heart and miss her everyday)
Found a new loan horse, lovely boy, done a lot of work with him and paid quite a lot to sort out teeth, get his vaccs up to date etc. etc. his owner asked me to buy him - i said no - not enough money and he's just not the horse for me. But i agreed i would continue to loan him (part share) with another lady on the yard from August. then a week or 2 ago i get a note on the yard telling me she needs to sell him. so he's going in the next couple of months (at least by August as that's when the loan ends).

I spent the last week or so searching high and low for another loan/share and have struggled to find anything, but i had a call today from the Darley TB rehoming centre to say there is a possible horse that may be ready in a couple of months! Woo Woo! i know it may not come to anything, and the horse may not be suitable - but its made me very happy and smiley! there is hope! sorry i know this was totally pointless, and sorry if its boring, but i'm feeling much better now!

I hope it works out for you with the ex race horse, although I was on a list for one, they phoned me and said they have a suitable one for me (I wanted to do basic rc stuff which inc xc) I went all the way there to try him and he was lovely but ... he only had one eye (they didn't tell me this on the phone) the other had been removed due to an accident - I was gutted!

I brought an ISH in the end, I didn't have much money (£2k) but he was advertised with 'slight confirmation fault' which turned out to be he has pidgeon toes (and he has/had a sarcoid) but he is what I want other than that, and better than having a one eyed horse (although people tell me they can do as much as a two eyed horse!)

I hope the one you look at is all that you want.

I hope it turns out well for you. It is not a pointless post by the way! If the tb is not suitable there are a lot of horses out there looking for a great new home.

its still really early days - to the point where they arent even sure if he will be suitable or have given me any details (but they said they'd be in contact in a month or so, and hopefully i'll get to go and see him then). just been on their website trying to narrow down which horses it could be (minimum of 16hh and older then 5, alrounder, basic rc activities). i know i probably shouldnt get too excited, and its a real possibility it wont happen, but trying to stay uber positive - thanks for all of your positive messages and vibes! I'd love an ISH Hermangerman - just have no funds for the initial outlay of buying a horse, which is why the darley TBs are the best option.

I was in exactly the same boat when I was looking, that is why I went to see the one eyed ex race horse!

But .. I have a friend who lent me the money and I pay her back every month now.

I have wondered soemtimes if I have done the right thing but he was a bargain because of his toes! we will get there he is just so lovely and he is mine - all - mine (no loan)!

Best of luck, I bet you just can't wait!

Really glad you found something, and if your horse is right you definitely made the right decision! i really miss having my own horse - my old girl really was my horse of a lifetime (although a cowbag most of the time! but she was my cowbag!).

Really cant wait at all - think i'd feel quite good about rehoming an ex-racer too, i've pretty much only ridden TB's for the past 18 years or so too, i'm afraid i'm one of those crazy TB fans (my old mare was chestnut too - i must be mad!)
