possible mare!!opinions and thoughts!!!

my friend has 99% said i can use her mare!! however i still need to explain that things can go dreadfully wrong with mares/foal etc

shes coming with me to the stud to get bracken so i can show her dollar and ask what my chances are with a 15yr old maiden mare.so firstly what do you guys think of the mare!! piccies of her and her dad and her mums name(cant find piccies!!) at the end of this!!! and what will my chances of getting a 15yr old maiden in foal?(shes 14 now!!)karen(my friend) her daughter is loosing interest in Cara however it will help karen if i take Cara on. also means i can ride her!!which i do anyway!!!!so what tests etc do you guys recommend i do on Cara first to check her fertility etc?

She looks a v nice mare and she should be ok at 15 but would wonder if you could end up with another expensive year with no foal, a slight risk but has been done before

LOL thats what i want to try and avoid!!!! shes got a lovely temprement and she can bloody jump!! i only have one video of me jumping her but its not high!! and was the first time i had jumped in years and i look awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She looks a really nice type to breed from and i dont see why a maiden at 15 should be a problem if she is in good health.
Just have a pre breeding check done to be sure if you take this route.

ok i may sound like a numpty asking this!!!! who would you recommend i get to do this? my usual vet or leahurst? and any idea on rough prices/whats involved so i can explain it all to the mares owner!!

Nothing intelligent to say, except she looks really fine on that picture!! I would have said she was at least 3/4 TB! I'd put her to a nice ID, and get a nice chunky foal!! But that's me and I like my chunkies!!

dont know about mums line but would of thought she would be all TB as she was a racer and well daddy i do like and if i was in the states with a useful!!! horse not useless!!!! i would use him!!!

I love her dams bloodlines, Roscoe Blake although a race stallion has sired loads of good racehorses as well as tough event horses I think. Most stock by Blakeney ( Roscoe Blakes dad) is just fab! Also Blakeney was the dam sire of Mark of Esteem, who won last years derby.
Personally I'd like to see her go to a nice rangy TB with good bone to produce a eventer! Criminal Law would go well with her perhaps..

Correction; it was Sir Percy who won the Derby last year, not Mark of Esteem! Doh.
Perce is by Mark of Esteem out of a Blakeney mare.
