Definitely Graham I like human names as well.

My friend has a Rodney she did also have Derek for a while as well 😂

We have a Dave in the yard. And an Allen - which you can't possibly say without thinking of the seagul video 😂. A Lou, Molly, Maddie, Bridget, Thomas, Tommy, Donald, Charlotte, Polly, Sheldon, Jack, Hank, Dennis, Ivan, Douglas, Ellie, Henry, Louis, Max, Marty, Joe, Harri, Bruce, Pierre, Simon, Hugo, Humphrey ... the list goes on 😂😂😂

Most of ours have stable names that are part of their race names. But the human named ones don't really. Jack and Ivan were named after their fathers - Jack Hobbs & Ivanhowe because they didn't have race names at that point. Some of the ones Michael has brought up the road have completely different names so it gets quite confusing with no reference at all to why they are called what they are.

I'm not a huge fan of giving them human names but I do think we need a Steve. We have 4 human Steve's kicking about we may as well add a horse one 😂

I quite like the name Graham for a horse, never come across it before! Have met an equine Brian before, love it. If you're anything like me then it will naturally morph into lots of random nick names anyway... ;)

Keep Graham, chances are you'll end up nicknaming him Gray anyway and you'll need his proper name to use when he's in trouble, and it works on both a name level and a colour level :D

Here are my three simple rules for whether or not to change the stable name of a newly-purchased horse. They are very much my own wee rules, but maybe they will help you decide.

*It's truly terrible. You feel dread and apprehension at the thought of it written on the stable door, yelling it across the field, and will feel like crawling into a hole every time you answer the question, "What's his name?" It doesn't matter if other people like it (someone did -- they named him that!); it just matters how you feel.

*The horse shares a name with an ex, your current partner, or some other human or animal you know and don't want to think about every time you see your horse. Or would just be too weird. Like you don't want both your husband and your horse to be called Joe. It's easier to change the name of the horse.

*It's too common. You don't want him to be the fifth horse at the yard called Blue or Ollie.
