yep, owner tacked him up infront of me, saddle looked a little wide to me, definatly needs some muscle, but went really well on the flat, lovely trot, wicked jump, hes jumped 1.20m easily, and is very bold, just so diff from riding my other one, (16.2 warmblood)

Couldn't cope with the lack of shoulder myself - what is there to land on in a crisis

!! Its his personality and whether you clicked that matters, though!

The saddle is far too far forwards which gives a false impression of being long in the back and having nothing in front. You really need to study him with the tack off to judge his confirmation.

He looks a nice type and is a nice size for you. With a bit of muscle and education I think he wold be nice.

Saddle is far to far forward, as S_J says! He looks a nice type, and you look good on him! From what you say, is all positive, but would be interested in hat he looks like tackless....

I do genuinely like him! and if he was jumping 1.20m with good technique with his saddle on his neck, imagine what he could do with a properly fitted one!

First off.....did you like him & did he like you? If you both seem to get on then that's pretty important.

You're dead right about the saddle, it's right up his shoulder which apart from being uncomfortable for him it will prevent the free movement of his shoulder. Next time you try move it back to the correct position & you'll see him move more freely.

You mention 'he jumps 1.20m easily', if you haven't seen it then take it with a pinch of salt. He has only been backed for 3 months so jumping 1.20 is questionable in that period.

If he moves ok & he's the type you want & can pass vetting then go for it. He's green but at least you have a 'clean page' to start on. He shouldn't have learned any bad habits yet. With him knowing nothing you should get him at a reasonable price also. Good Luck & I hope everything goes to plan.

Seems a bit odd. I mean he's lovely but backed 12 weeks ago and already jumped 1.20 and done a British Novice? What happened to laying down the basics

He's dark bay therefore I love him

Seriously, though, as long as his temperament suits you, the history adds up and then he passes a vet, I think you'll have a very nice horse. I would certainly take him right back to basics as three months is nowhere near long enough to be on a horse's back and expecting him to do BN, never mind 1.20! If he hasn't been ruined, then fine. If you don't want him, I'd be very interested! Good luck and don't rush into it.
