I have just bought a brand new Saddle Company saddle for my new horse, I seem to be having a couple of problems with it... Firstly, it feels quite hard which I presume is because it’s new and the flock needs to settle and mould to my horse, however in trot it keeps pushing me out of the saddle like a little springboard when I rise which my 5 year old does not appear to be liking as he thinks this means go faster!! It is also pushing my legs quite far forward and I feel unbalanced.

Can anyone shed any advice on whether this is because the saddle is brand new and will take a while to settle, and of course for me and my horse to get used to. I have only ridden in it twice so I am maybe being a bit presumptuous. It fits my horse really well which is my main priority, however I’m not happy that it is now making me ride very badly!!!

Thanks!

That catapault feeling normally comes from the saddle lifting at the back in rising trot - it could have settled at the front too quickly and is a fraction wide now, or is a little curvy and may need a tweak with the flocking. The best thing you can do is call the fitter and explain what is happening.
