possible numpty bit question.

my 6 y/o is in a french link loose ring snaffle, as far as i know he always has been and for every discipline. however, he chews it, not all the time, but if we're really working hard in the school, or even sometimes if we're just out for a plodding hack.

now i don't mean like the odd play, he really really chews it and and plays with it.

is this a good thing, or a bad thing =S?
