I have a shettie type pony whm my friend rescued from sales a few years ago , his owners had castrated him themselves and he was wild and not young, she got him put right and backed him and loaned him to local riding school whilst there the bloke that owned stables fed him oats and kept him in 24/7 so he fizzed up so the pony tried to push past to get out of stable and the man 'lost it' with him and started beating him (this lasted apparently few hours as the bloke is a nutter and takes it persnally when a horse does something wrong), so his wife rang and sed could she get him immediately coz she was scared what her husband mite do:mad:

we said he could go in one of our paddocks and we now own him bt recently his eye was runny and when this stopped it changed colour to bluey white I have asked different vets but one didn't seem worried and the other vet can't get near him ( nearly all his experience with humans were bad) any suggestions????????

sorry to go on a bit.

I'm surprised the vet is not worried by this!? Mine has one slightly cloudy eye from either uvietis or trauma, and he is slightly blind in it, we keep a good eye on it that it does not get worse, and the vet will do an eye check when doing yearly innoculations and a check to make sure he has not lost any more vision. If his got watery or any more cloudy, the vet would be straight out!
I would get the vet out again for your shetti, it does sound like uvietis, or he may have had some trauma to it, either way it needs some treatment.

I have a pony with it (may be put down on monday because of it......). You really need to get a vet to the pony asap as it is a terribly painful condition and will only get worse untreated :( can someone not catch the pony and the vet just heavily sedate him? I know one pony that is awful with the vet (will rear on them!) she used to fill him with sedalin but now the vet has taught her how to inject him so it's much easier and safer. Hope you manage to get it sorted x
