Possibly a daft question re dressage saddles

I'm owed a bit of money that i should (hopefully) be getting some time in the new year and was looking at getting a dressage saddle for D. Currently i ride him in a 17.5" bates VSD as i have a short thigh length. So my question is would i still put a 17.5" dressage saddle on him or would it be a different size because of its style? Never had a dressage saddle before... Told you it was a daft question.

If you use a 17.5 inch saddle, then you will probably want the same size seat regardless of the style of saddle. Dressage saddles will very in make, and some have different length flaps too.
