My friend and I have been having a debate about bandaging.....when the bandaging is finished, should the velcro be done up so its facing the back like with boots or doesnt it matter??

yeh this bugs me because I wrap my bandages up all the same way and put them on the same way so when they are finished, on one side they are right and point to the back, on the other side they point to the front!!! I can do it so they all point to the back but I have to think about it LOL!!!! I do bother if I'm going to a clinic/leson/comp. etc. but when I'm at home I don't really bother and long as they are bandaged right I couldn't care less whether they face forward or back, never had one move yet!!!

Thanks for the replies, but yeah I have the same problem as you CentrestageSHS! Roll the same way, wrap the same way etc but end up one facing back and one facing front! I just do them on autopilot and forget which leg Im on!

Ill have to try and get them both the right way tonight!

Yep I do LOL, I am a lttle dyslexic when it comes to bandaging the other way for some reason hehe!! I CAN do it LOL but I have to sit for a second and think which way I rolled it up and which way I have to go !!!!

Yeah I think I must do Loupride! Note to self - must re-programme autopilot!

CentrestageSHS - maybe we should start a bandage dyslexia clique!

When you are putting the bandages on just make sure that everytime you are on the outside you are rolling towards the back of the horse, that way the velcro will face the back.

Thanks - I managed to do it "correctly" last night!

I find the off side the hardest as I think I need to be left handed, I find the near side a lot easier to do!

I was always taught so that you bandaged towards the backend, so that you never pullend on the tendons down the back of the leg??? So I have just always bandaged this way!! But suppose that with correct bandaging then you shouldn't pull the tendon otherwise tha bandage to tight???

Yes I do exactly the same, always bandage front to back. This is the reason boots are made that way aswell, to prevent putting presure on tendons when you put them on.
