Well im really starting to think my girl has epsm (friesian 9years) she dont like picking hinds up has big trouble in canter swapping behind and maintaining it also has hind end muscle wastage despite good schooling/hacking.lacking energy and gets soreness muscle tremers around her shoulders sometimes.

she has always been on low sugar startch feed but she has just got so lazy over the last 5 months so have tryed a few different feeds out which are a bit higher in sugar and startch and if anything has made her much lazier and possibly a bit more sore shoulder wise.
just to add she is seen by a very good bowen man thats works wounders on her.

have started with 50ml of oil in her dinner next week will add another 50 and so on till we reach what she is ment to have.

maybe a coincidence but she has been on this for 3 days and today ive never seen her run out like she did this morning in her field was quiet shocked. got a lesson tonight so will see how that goes.

few questions do you think its possible for her to have it?

does anyone no were i can get a vit e supplement without the selenium have looked everwhere and cant find anything? as have good levels of selenium in her vit and min supplement.

also how quickly did you see results in your horse from changing the diet?

also my girl seems to have good and bad days is this normal will that continue if diet does work?
thanks for any help

I read about EPSM when my horse was having canter problems & wondered if he could have it, however he was finally diagnosed with kissing spines, might be worth getting his back checked out thoroughly by a vet.

Sounds like it could possibly be bone spavin or like previous poster indicated KS. Does he drag his feet when ridden/led in trot?
