I do hope this is not the stupidest question ever asked in here, but do b*itches have a menopause?

I have only ever had neutered male dogs, so I know very little about the workings of a female. Does an unspayed female stop having seasons when they are older, like us humans?

Depends on the dog, but the longer they are left open, they run the risk of contracting pyometra, which is a horrible condition, we nearly lost our old girl at 11. She first had a phantom which then developed into a pyo and had an emergency spay - then lived to 14. I would urge you have her neutered. Even the breeders I know neuter their bitches when they have finished having pups.

My grandparents dog stopped having seasons at about 10...when she was 12 out popped Tinker and her sister :o So um...yes and no!
