Possibly worrying over nothing, abcesses

The ground in our field is quite gritty in places and when hoof picking I've had to seriously wiggle teeny stones out of the sides of the horses frogs, the sides of the seat of corn and between the hoof wall and white line.
I'm worrying that i'm going to miss one, I'm pretty thorough but they seem to get stuck in like little ice bergs with only a tiny bit showing
Am I looking at abcess city?

Not necessarily, I just pick out any lodged stones with an old horseshoe nail, never had an abcess yet.

Thanks touchstone, I've heard some abcess horror stories recently and it was really worrying me last night. You know sometimes when you start to obsess and panic? Stupid horses making me worry
