Need some ideas please!
Billy has 3 quite deep holes in his hoof which I’m currently hardening up. I tried the keratin hoof putty but that fell out by the evening. Then did my usual cotton wool & tar but it’s also out this morning

Can anyone recommend something to stuff in hole?

Hmm putty and tar might work together!

Does artimud harden? The main hole was a crack so has been parred away so nothing soft will stick I think. Currently is stuffed with salt and cotton wool lol

The old remedy is iodine and sugar mixed together then soak cotton wool in it and plug the hole push well down with a hoof pick.
my grandad used to use it It's called sugardine a nd is making a come back I have used it successfully it hardens and the iodine stops any recurring infection sealing the air out but not hardening rock solid.
lots of the old remedies are making a comeback .My vet and Farrier approved.

Red horse worked best for "normal" abscesses once they were clean but I had a horse who chronically abscesses and the vets dug quite a out of his hoof so used sugardine initially in that situation.

I'm just using field paste for a solar abscess hole just now but have used hoof putty and artimud with good success too

Could try cotton wool soaked in tea tree, we used a shoeing nail to help push the cotton wool right into the whole (it's amazing just how much fits in there!)
