******ALSO POSTED IN THE NEW LOUNGE TO CAPTURE THE WIDEST AUDIENCE POSSIBLE******

Can any of you give me an indication of what type of discharge your saw from the nasal passage 5 days post op?

I'm not sure if what she has is normal or not.

Pictures would be GREAT!

Here is Miss P's nose this morning after hacking out (as the vets suggested I do). I just don't know if I shold be alarmed at the colour or consistency at this stage. I really don't want to look like a neurotic owner by calling the duty vet at Leahurst. Patches surgeon isn't back in until Tuesday.

You usually get some blood run down the nostril from out of the sinus after the op. x

Thank you.

I assume the orange colour is a bit of blood mixed in. Looks like iodine, that's the best colour description.

I've had another reply in the lounge which says to expect it for a couple of weeks. I feel better now.

I have to book my own vet to check her this week and again the week after to remove her staples, so I will hopefully get further reassurance then, especially as one of the vets told me his horse has had the op itself.

Dont laugh but if it is any use I had a sinus op last week (yes on myself!) to remove bits and bobs that werent supposed to be in there and I have a kind of bloody/snotting minging discharge.

If you are worried.....call the vet ans ask; they wont mind

Strangely enough, that's a great help. Thanks for sharing that.

Get well soon and I do hope the doctors didn't have to go in through your cheek and forehead to do yours!
