My lurcher was spayed six days ago. Healing well but very bored and not good to leave on her own yet. We’ve not had her long and she’s a rescue only 11 months old. I won’t let her run or even walk far until her 2-3 weeks are up but considering taking her to the ponies field when I feed them so she gets a car ride. She can sit in my little feed shed while I’m there. I can put towels down. Appreciate thoughts on infection risk or whether car journey should be avoided? She’s so bored!

I took my lurcher up to the horse a day or two after she’d been spayed - on a lead of course - she was fine 😊 post-op rest never occurred to Millie mind you.... 🙄

I have had two dogs spayed this year, they healed very quickly. No racing about or jumping for10 days but out for lead walks. I had a ramp to get in and out of the car.
After 10 days back too normal.
Do take her out and about.

She’s trotting about playing with toys indoors I really think she’s getting stir crazy. We will go tomorrow. Thanks all.

Yep, this is the advice I’ve always had from my vet. First 10 days, until stitches out, nothing too energetic but lead walks fine. After 10 days, back to normal and anything goes.

Just out of interest, what’s the 2-3 weeks advice you’ve had. Is it because of a particular procedure I wonder?

just be careful. my pup lasted 6 days, started going stir crazy then escaped out the back door when I let my other dog in, pounced at the cat and prompt burst open all her stitches ........ back to vets for GA to sort it all out again :( bloody springer legs LOL
