Erm how does one exactly go about posting a saddle?! How have you wrapped/packaged it?

It is possibly going abroad (Sweden) and I need to do a quick estimate of the delivery cost but have no weighing scales, how much does the average saddle weight??!

Thanks!

My 17.5" leather gp weighed 14.9kg, so with the box i allowed 15kg. Put it on your bathroom scales to check. Just get a huge box and some bubble wrap and away you go. If you go on the Parcelforce website you can pay and print off your postage label and then deliver the parcel to the PO or depot or i think they will collect. Make sure the box is taped up securely and your name and postcode is on the box somewhere.

Can't help you with weight, but when I got my old saddle I received it by post as it had been modified by the manufacturers. It was simply sent in a large box, wrapped in bubble wrap - nothing special.

Ive sold and posted off two saddles and recived a couple...
they all have gone in a box wrapped in foam and bubble wrap and those air pillow things! just lots and lots of protection so it doesnt move about inside or rub on the box

ETA - they have all been lightweight jumping saddles too... so where very light. not sure how much a GP would weigh

Stick it in a box with a little newspaper, tissue, bubble wrap or something to lightly pad the pommel and cantle. It will usually cost no more than £15 insured up to £500 by Royal mail, although other couriers may be sheaper.

Box and ballons and bubble wrap seems to be the way to go.

However you are sending it to Sweden? Be very careful as the cheaper option is to use a courier broker - the cheapest and best I have found is www.p4d.co.uk Postage cost is defined by volumetric size not weight of the parcel itself cos unless you're filling the box with lead it's always lower than the volumetric...

There are calculators on these sites to help give you a price. Never use the post office for international - it just costs too much especially when you start adding tracking, signed for, insurance etc which are all included with courier services. I send stuff all over the world and this is by far the best way to go.

Hope this helps.
