Okay i went to try a horse yesterday. He is 11 y/o and 16hh TB with Primitive Rising bloodlines.
Owner has had him 3 years ish and started eventing him the first year. Second year just did dressage (won Northern Area Championships) as girl also bought young horse to bring on. Third year he has barely been used as girl now at uni and focusing on young horse to this horse is just left really and hacked out every now and then.
He hasn't been clipped as not being used and also has no top line or muscle (but have seen photos of him in full fitness and is stunning) but is a lovely horse.
Anyway i rode him yesterday after girl had ridden him and i really liked him. he jumped brill considering he hasnt jumped in a year and is responsive to you leg, it took me a while to get used to it as on my pony i have my leg on all the time so we were a bit speedy at first. He is a dream to ride, flowing paces and just goes into a beautiful outline. I also took him for a walk/trot round fields and he was fine, just a bit speedy walking towards home. He is quite forward and i little strong but i never ever felt nervous or frightened. I really liked him. He is a XC machine too.
Anyway, how long do you think it would take to get him into full fitness and build his muscles up? I would like to event him and he fits the bill having done Novice with previous owner and 100 with current (all beit not since a couple years ago). Im going back up with my instructor wednesday to see what she thinks.
Sorry its so long, Ben&Jerrys to anyone who has bothered to read my novel
