I went to see a horse for sale at the showing yard where my trainer works, he would be bought as a fun schollmaster type for me just to have fun on, hes 16.1 chunky type been to HOYS a few times as a large riding horse, was dragged from the field in November and did a couple of RC dressage tests then went on a ticket and did 2 affliated novice tests at Caythorpe won everything then went back to the field and has been there since. Hes competed side saddle and done workers too with sucess.

My trainer lunged him and he was sprightly but soon settled she then schooled him before I got on he was foot perfect. I rode and at first found him big but then fell in love with his effortless paces and obdience, he does all the tricks and will do nice 2 times changes when tuned up, he felt very supple and loose and light and for his size (VV FAT!!) simply floats around, no wonder hes had a good showing career the judges must feel a million dollars.

Slight downside hes 16 (oh and I'm still supposed to be emigrating but have warned mum she'll need to dust off the wicker basket.) But hes had an easy life he hasn't been shown for the past 2 seasons as theres been no room on the lorry with the cobs. What do you think about a price? His canter is dreamy, I'm going again this week and will get pictures.

Because hes been turned out since november, I expected him to be a bit full of it and he was but didn't buck or do anything crazy, she just wanted to settle him, if he'd been back in work a few days I'm sure it wouldn't have been necessary, oh and he was also missing a shoe so she wanted to check he was even to ride.

What a gem ,whatever the price I hope he gets a super home ,think its a bit sad that a horse of that quality has been left out in a field, they can get a bit stiff if left off work at that age but he obviously hasn't and I hope you have him for life

Yes I was suprised at how supple he was, Bailey is in his 20s and always comes out a little stiff and the horse I've ridden this week is the same age and was nowhere near as supple and both are in full work, he's fantastic, I'd have him vetted of course but in the time my trainer has worked for his owner, 3 years, theres never been an issue, so hopefully he'd pass. Hes lovely I may get him for £3500 it seems reasonable for his quality
