hello, im Jenni. 27, mum to 1 year old. Used to lecture equine science at Hartpury now doing a PhD in rider fitness at Uni Worcester.

Long story short had a baby and moved to scotland... now back in Gloucestershire. Have not ridden much in the last year, one of my horses 'red' is a 16hh chestnut gelding hanovarian x Tb. He will be 4 next april. He is lovely, moves well and lovely temperament. His sire is 'Landtanzer' from Meadow Stud and his Dam is my TB ex racer. I believe he has potential and is extremely well natured.

Given my situation he is un-backed I am looking to have him professionally backed next year. Thats when I head into problems. Red lives at my mums in Suckley which is an hours drive away from me... with me working FT and having a hours drive home to put my son to bed etc I wont be able to ride in the week.. much anyway. So as I see it my options are :

1) have him backed then he stays in Suckley and I have a part-loan arrangement with someone where they ride him and generally care for him during the week. This way there would be minimal shared costs involved so I assume more a appealing deal for both parties.

2) I bring him into full/part livery in chelts and someone part loans and contributes to costs

My mums yard is in the heart of suckley. We have 4 horses and a pony between us. I would ensure Red is backed but obviously will be green so I would like someone who has enough ridden experience who could help me bring him on further and would like to have lessons on him and would like to potentially do some small competitions. As we have other horses there would be lots of opportunity for hacking, We have no school but large flat fields and schools available for hire about 0.5 miles away. We also have a small horse box so we could go out and about. Im not experienced with the concept of part sharing but I really do not want to sell him. This way I could ride him 2-3 times per week and someone else could enjoy him too. If he can stay at my mums in Suckley financially it would prove a very good deal! If someone thinks this arrangement sounds interesting please let me know so I can look into it. You can PM me or reply bk here. I cannot see how else I can keep him in my hectic life, and as a PhD student, i cannot afford livery :-(

I would also appreciate advice, opinions etc from those who have part shared/loaned before

Thanks,

Jenni:)
