Last week I noticed a hard lump appear on the inside of my horse’s left foreleg, near enough right in the middle between his knee and fetlock. It’s absolutely solid but there’s no heat or lameness, in fact he’s happier than ever! Everything I’ve read and seen fits with it being a splint apart from the fact there’s no heat or lameness? We attended a mini hunter trials in September where he had a stumble at a table jump (had boots on!) not sure if this could have caused it being such a long period between? I’m just a bit stumped on whether it is a splint or could be something else? If anyone else has experienced this I’d appreciate your advice!! ☹️

My horses first splint appeared like that. In hindsight he was slightly (very slightly) different before it appeared and once it was out he carried on like nothing was there. Never any heat or any indication of discomfort at all. The hindsight thing might not even be connected but he was struggling to strike off on the correct canter lead and it improved after the splint appeared. Who knows?! He's developed a couple more since (mainly from thundering around the field with his mates) but they don't affect him at all.

One of my horses had a huge one come up last May it has gone down a bit, but his had no heat or lameness but he did no showing because of it:confused: I am hoping by next summer it will have gone or he will be a dressage horse for the time being, my other horse had one as a 5 year old and within the year it had gone you can't see it but you can very slightly feel it never had any problems with it and his 14 now.
