Having read a few threads on here about poulticing feet for various things. My question is: What do you make the poultice out of? I know about nappies etc to keep them on but what is the actual poulticing substance?
We've used Animalintex (just add water!) but my farrier thinks it's hilarious that we spend so much money on this when you can use a nappy and mag sulphate paste.
Not sure if that's the same but you can get mag sulphate paste from the chemist. I used it on myself years ago for a very nasty ulcer on my arm - draws the pus out (nice!).
I have been using animalintex with warm water, then nappy on, vetwrap it and then duct tape it.
I do hot tub it in epsolm salts first and then put the animalintex on.
Bran and Epsom salts, in the foot of an old pair of tights, pour hot water over it, as hot as you can stand to the touch and secure with a nappy and gaffer tape!
