So is the novice course going to be nice, horrible, big, small, first timers or experienced???? whats everyone been hearing?

UP to height and not for first timers is the word I've heard going around. Which suits me down to the ground as I am looking for big, tough, technical tracks this year and it is in my neck of the woods!

The bigger classes are aimed at first-timers apparently, but the Novice isn't.

If there is anywhere in the SW which ISN'T sodden ATM I will eat my hat! Thankfully my horse is part bog-pony and not worried by bottomless going.

May stay over but will be asking a friend for a favour (;)) not paying the extortionate rates Powderham are charging!

I am hoping that as it is a Stately Homes challenge venue it will be big, bold and galloping, as those courses suit my horse best, he loved Charlton Park novice - I want more like that and am very sad it has gone.

That is deffo on my list for this year - I figure if we can get round that then CCI* is within grasp as I am too chicken to do intermediate SJ this season, though I may do an IN if feeling v brave! Went XC schooling last weekend and jumped a few of the intermediate fences at Stockland Lovell, so the ability is there, but the SJ is just so HUGE at intermediate!

Yonks ago (when I was competing) Bicton Novice was big and beefy but rode Brilliantly. Both my horses jumped really really well round it.

SJ is in the main arena too, so a great atmosphere and the horses 'rise' to the occasion. Even Cowbag who was rubbish at SJ managed to jump a double clear there!

if you use the road behind the grounds that runs parelle with the train tracks some of the new fences are up. also more the other side going up as well

Heres the website with some of the jumps being put in last year. Think it looks good and can't wait!!! Hope Int will be nice, will be first event since Aldon novice, not best prep and other horses first novices!!!

(ps I did Barbury 06 and found it p*ss easy but was told it was easy that year, harder in 05 and 07)

What I prefer about Powderham is it is much flatter than Bicton! I loathe lots of hills!

I last competed at Powderham in 1998 doing PC section so will be great to go back.
