I was just wondering which of the meds available to treat PPID people used ?

Mine was on the pill from Nov 15 and about a month ago I changed him to the paste, the difference in him is remarkable. He has become the horse he was prior to starting the pill for the better. He has always been fussy with food but became really badly affected by loss of appetite. He is like a different horse now and is so nice to see, had I realised how much it was affecting him apart from the appetite I would have changed sooner. Wondered if anyone else has had similar experience.

Are you in the UK or a different country? I think most people in the UK use the tablets. There are some good faebook groups out there with lots of useful info. One thing owners have found is that starting the tablets suddenly can lead to "the veil" - depression and inappetence - maybe this is what happened to yours? The group splitting the pills and introducing them slowly, upping the dose very slowly. They also recommend splitting the dose into am and pm if possible. I think it is quite hard to find the correct dose and the symptoms of a dose that is too high can be the same as the symptoms of a dose that is too low.

Hi yes, thanks for that, I'm an admin on an international ppid group, I was just wondering if others had found the same swapping to the paste. I am in the UK and its made by BOVA, mine did go through the veil as I didn't know about starting on a low dose until I joined the facebook group. Having seen him since being on the paste he is back to how he was prior to diagnosis behaviour wise. I now believe he was in a permanent veil type stasis which affected his appetite and general behaviour.

I'm in the UK and I have been using the paste for several months. My pony is on quite a large dose for a small pony and it is much easy to get him to take it as a paste. He is around 30 years old and doing ok.

That's good to know, mine is 41 and the change in him since being on the paste is amazing
