A good farrier is always hard to find, one that will listen to you and your horse, turns up on time, phones if gonna be late, doesn't rush, chat's to you, explains everything, treats your horses with respect.

How many have a farrier like this..:)

My farrier is a barefoot farrier and yes he charges more than a traditional farrier but the quality of my horses hooves and the above mentioned service is astounding. He is a quaified traditional farrier, excels in his knowledge and is a fantastic barefoot farrier.

Yesterday I realised I was going to be too ill to get to the yard at all today and sent him a text. My sharere could not get up till 2 hrs after teh slotte time.

So what does my farrier do, he brought my two horses in from the paddock, trimmed their feet and left them in my stable for when my sharer turned up later to ride. He didn't even ask about being paid, I had to ask him and sent the payment to him by bank transfer.

My horses are so calm with him and I trust him 100%, so who is this person,

It is Mark Johnson and if your interested in having him trim your horses or shoe them I am based in Northampton and could pass his details to you.

Just a nice postive post to give thanks where its deserved.

He was brilliant when I had dealings with him last year before i moved.. He's extremely knowledgeable and had a lot of time to talk to me..

Sounds smashing!! I have to admit when our new farrier texted to say he would be late (before he was late mind), then turned up just 5 mins late (early in farrier speak) then went on to explain what he was up to, be friendly to me and the horses and then do a good job - well, I just about nearly fainted lol! He has also coped with us going barefoot without missing a beat and is always keen to know how they are doing and is encoraging. He even sent good luck texts when we were off to Rockley, really great bloke. I feel awful now ours are self trimming as we just don't need him, a shame as it is poor reward for being particularly excellent at his job.
Good people can be hard to find, but great to hear about those who make a proper effort.

Mine is fantastic, he is an excellent farrier and at the moment when pony is going through a phase of loosing shoes he doesn't charge me to replace and a lot of the time will catch pony and then turn out afterwards.
I try to keep him sweet by taking home baking

I am friends with him on FB - he seems to spend all his spare time going to lectures and dissecting hooves

He's like a walking encylopedia when it comes to the biochemics of the horses hoof.

He turns my horses out for as well even when I am there, I have had good traditional farriers (and terrible ones) in the past but none as good as Mark.

My farrier is also like that, Harwill Diemling in the Brighton area.. Goes way above and beyond the call of duty.. This includes commuting from Brighton to Hinckley and more recently Brighton to Totnes for the love of my horse.. Fantastic man, brilliant farrier, and I'm proud to say now a friend.. He worked wonders with my lad I lost last night, he was just beyond anything we could do in the end..

I have heard both farriers and trimmers speak very highly of Mark.
My BF has just finished making a press for Mark so he can load and unload limbs to further his knowledge of the workings of the limb and hoof....... This may add yet another dimension to his hoof anorak-i-ness:rolleyes:

Goodness, I'm so sorry. Was that your CB lad or am I confusing you with someone else (if so, sorry if I am)?
RIP xxx
