Praise Yourself

Hmm...

I have very quiet hands apparently - I'm one of the few who can handle the crazy pony on hacks, busy hands wind him up

I've only fallen off twice in 2 years!

I won 1st place at PC Camp :D

I do feel better - this is fun! :o :D

I think i can ride most horses to a pretty decent standard. I can get on most horses and get a tune out of them..

And to sound totally up myself...my riding was dead hot out show jumping today :)

Oh and I'm extremely determined and have a lot of patience hence why I still have Lacey baha

Maisie6 - id find myself a good trekking centre and enjoy hacking out at walk or whatever you like, worked wonders for me and taught me more than my rs at the time. Remember it's all about fun!

Fantastic thread :)

I swore 7 years ago I wouldn't jump again, and I swore last year I wouldn't get on my boy again (after a series of falls, last one being nasty, and my confidence hit rock bottom). I started introducing boy to jumping a couple of weeks ago (he's 5... never jumped under saddle before)...

He's rather unco-ordinated, and I'm very much out of practice. Chuffed to bits, though :D

What a lovely idea. :)

I think I have a good relationship with my horse and understand her. I think I can also recognise when something's actually wrong, rather than just always assuming she is being awkward and pushing her through it.

Maisie, I have a friend in Canada with a horse recovering from injury, she spent months just in walk and she developed the best seat of anyone I've ever seen. As long as you enjoy yourself it doesn't matter if you don't want to canter!

I think I have a bum made of glue, but maybe it's balance? My horse doesn't buck or rear or anything, but sometimes she doesn't watch where she's going and she stumbles. A friend commented one day on how well I sat when Big Ears shoved her foot down a rabbit hole and panicked a little. It made me :D she also stumbled in a river on Saturday in her haste to get out the other side; I had a feeling it was going to happen and stuck to. My father commented after that he saw me 'nearly fall in the river'. I corrected him - there was never any danger of me falling off my horse. If she went down in the water, I was going down with her!

I must keep reminding myself of this whenever I get told I'm not a 'proper rider' :(

I broke in my first ever horse last year for a friend, ended up buying him and giving him the winter off. Don't think I even brushed him in over 8 weeks.

Saturday I brought him in (groomed him!) and lunged him - angel.

Yesterday got back on him - perfect!

Feel really proud as he isn't the easiest pony in the world at times and I have regularly questioned my capabilities but yesterday made me beam with happiness and gave me reassurance I'm not ruining my little guy!

Hmm I'm good at getting on things people don't want to ride and just sitting through it, I'm also good with the stubborn little ponies people buy for their children because they're cute not because their suitable. I'm bot afraid of falling off and am therefore not afraid to try anything. I actually felt like a decent rider the other day when tipsy actually did a nice controlled three eat canter!

I have always been thought of as a quiet, sympathetc rider. I can get on most horses and get a tune out of them. I am very much a seat and legs person with very quiet, light hands. I can look stylsh as and when needs be in the show ring but I don't always ride like that.

I haven't had a riding lesson in 15 years but I was thinking of heading for one or 2 at a friends riding school in the summer more for the banter than anything else.

Great thread :D
Yesterday, i got on a 5 year old that i haven't even seen before, who's been broken only for 8months, took her to indoor xc and jumped everything in the 80cm class, i will give credit to the pony for being such a genuine sweetheart but i'm also going to give myself credit for giving her confidence to do it and encouraging her calmly rather than getting angry with her. She was a super star :)
I ride and compete my horse in a sadleless saddle, with nothing to help me stay on, she's a big sharp horse that recently resembles a kangaroo (rarely on 4 legs) and i have yet to fall off her with this saddle so i'm pleased with that :D
I have managed to pay for my horse myself this winter and provide her with everything she needs. (I'm 17 so its a big achievement)
I'm finding myself grow in confidence again and i don't mind getting on anything and riding it :)

Ooh half my post didn't appear?!

Also wanted to add I've successfully completed my first year of nursing and heading for a first whilst battling with said pony, including working all hours on nursing placements and managing my dwindling finances!
